Catholic Charities Lake City Partners With Local Organizations to Help Seniors

Updated: Mar 4, 2023

Lake City, Fla. – In recognition of National Senior Nutrition Month, Catholic Charities Lake City is teaming up with various local organizations throughout the area to help our seniors in need. Throughout the month of March – beginning Monday, March 6 – "Senior Mondays" will be held every Monday with Christine Beardsley, from Florida Medicare Review (soon-to-be Senior Health Advocates), where she will help seniors answer questions about Medicare and Medicaid and possible food benefits they could be receiving. Volunteers from HCA Florida Lake City Hospital, will also be at Catholic Charities Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with health-related and preventative care tips and information.

"If you know a senior in need, please invite them to come out to Catholic Charities during the month of March, where we will have nutritious and fresh food, coffee and many other items to take home," said Catholic Charities Lake City Regional Director, Suzanne Edwards. “Senior citizens make up a large portion of our community here in North Florida, and it's important that we help them out as best as we can."

Thankfully, Catholic Charities will have plenty of fresh fruits and produce available thanks to the Florida Gateway Food Bank and its partnership with Feeding America, which works with local farmers and food organizations around our local area. Together, we can help seniors, families and individuals in need.
