The Catholic Charities Lake City team begins planning holiday assistance events for both Thanksgiving & Christmas in late fall. 

 

We are blessed that many businesses – as well as all Columbia County public schools and some private schools – participate in canned food drives to support this initiative beginning in early October in conjunction with fall festivals & homecomings.

These canned goods are collected, sorted and packaged for families struggling to make ends meet. Our team also places gift cards in each bag for a choice of meat. In 2021, we distributed 550 Thanksgiving baskets and vouchers.

In December, our elves work to garner support of our Christmas Angel tree program for families facing hardship. This initiative is also completely privately funded.
