Our Programs
Self Sufficiency - Emergency Assistance
Case managers offer a wide range of life skills training, such as budgeting and household management to the families. When emergencies happen with energy assistance, rental / mortgage assistance, prescription needs, gasoline vouchers to emergency medical appointments and when new employment has been secured. Our food pantry has a wide range of nutritional foods and also personal hygiene products. We also help with burn out victims, and the case manager’s work extremely close with employment agencies in helping the clients with securing a job which enables them to begin a road of self sufficiency.
A Hand Up Center - Homeless Drop in Center
The Center provides assistance to the specific to the needs of those encountering homelessness and the chronic homeless. These services are designed specifically for the unmet needs of a homeless person such as an address in which to receive mail at temporarily, shower and laundry facilities, bus tickets to reunite back to family and or a job. We also provide pop-top foods to be utilized in the homeless elements. Our case managers are highly skilled to determine and assess the immediate need to guide the client in a direction for becoming self sufficient. Other agencies utilize A Hand Up Center to provide outreach services to assist the homeless individuals. These agencies are Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Veteran’s Administration Rep, Three River’s Legal Service.
Food Bank of Suwannee Valley
This is a program of Catholic Charities and is a sub distributor for Feeding America Food Bank in Jacksonville. The program has benefited countless agencies in the four county areas by supplying pantries, residential food programs with well balanced, nutritional foods to help alleviate hunger. Our Holiday Assistance Programs include:
Christmas Adopt a Family Progam - This program matches donors with families that need help during the Christmas season.
The Annual School Thanksgiving Drive -
Each year the school help us idenify those familes that need Thanksgiving baskets.
SNAP Outreach The Supplemental Nutrution Assistance Program (formally known as food stamps) is a great way people to stretch their food dollars. Working closely with Catholic Charities USA and the Department of Children and Families our office is helping clients get sign up for this program.
